THURSO by OVER THE WALL

In 2009, The Skinny listed Glasgow’s Over the Wall as a band “on whom to put your house on”. Probably meant in a betting sense, as opposed to the strategically problematic murdering choice favoured by Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. Not being a homeowner myself, I would happily place my most valuable possession, 27 pomegranates, in favour of their success.

The start of this remix could easily be mistaken for a Yann Tiersen pondering, but streaks of The Big Pink and Glasvegas soon storm to the forefront in a fury.

The lyrics stating that they made their “escape under the cover of an old lampshade”. suggest they are far more competent at making music then inconspicuous disguises. Unless, of course, they were prisoners in a furniture store at the time.

Their myspace is well worth a cheeky peek http://www.myspace.com/overthewall as is the video of the mellow version of Thurso http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_meDV_-RnM

Barriers

Barriers by Aereogramme

Recently used in Danny MacAskill’s latest video for S1Jobs, this track is one of Aereogramme’s recent singles. Comprising of Craig B on guitar / vocals, Iain cook on guitar, Campbell McNeil doing programming, and Martin Scott on drums, the track is part of their My Heart Has A Wish That Would Not Go album on the Chemikal Underground label. Their rich, upbeat, Glasgow sound was perfect for Danny’s impressive street-riding genius.

Buy the track / full album direct from Chemikal Underground, or see Aereogramme’s MySpace page for more.
